Lee Horbachewski is known to
many as SimpLee Serene. She is an
Author, Speaker, Coach, Advocate and Philanthropic Entrepreneur.
Lee knows firsthand the fear, isolation and desperation that
characterizes the illness that affects 1 in 5 Canadians. In 2004, at the age of 33, Lee's desperate
battle with depression and anxiety came to a head when she made three attempts
to end her life. Looking back Lee recognizes that her pain was her
purpose in disguise. She has since dedicated her life to helping others and is
fervently committed to have mental illness talked about as openly as
cancer. "Together we have the power to change and reduce the stigma that
surrounds mental illness and suicide. The only way we will do so is by
more people talking about it without judgment and fear". She courageously
exposes the truth of her torturous journey in the inspiring and compelling
tell-all "A Quiet Strong Voice".
Her advocacy and willingness
to openly share her story has resulted in thousands of people opening up about
their own struggles and finding the hope and courage they need to keep going
through the darkness. Lee is a beacon of
light for many through her Speaking, Coaching , blog
and social media presence on Twitter and Facebook.
Lee is the creator of "Up - Onwards and
Upwards through Depression and Anxiety", a peer mentor program that
provides tools, support and empowerment to facilitate change through depression
and anxiety.
